Week 23, 24, and 25 Pregnancy Updates

Hi Friends!

I apologize for the delay in updates, but it’s been a very busy three weeks.

1.  I helped organize for my school’s Homecoming dance and spent a Saturday morning/early afternoon decorating for the Casino theme.  One of my seniors tried to emulate my baby bump, circa 23 weeks.  I hope this passes for my Week 23 bump pic.

2.  I began preparing my Scentsy wax bar samples for some upcoming home parties.  After I was done making 300+, the house smelled amazing!!

3.  Dan and I traveled to Michigan for Thanksgiving, and my aunts and sister threw me a mini-baby shower.  It was absolutely awesome.

Baby Boy received several awesome gifts, including a book that my niece insisted we read out loud!

4.  Scentsy just wrapped up (until the end of Friday) the Most Wonderful Sale of the Year, so I’ve been helping clients place their orders.  It was a little stressful while the website was sluggish, but we got all the orders placed!

5.  A student and avid hunter brought me some venison, so my mom made stew from it…so many delicious childhood memories!

Official Week 25 Pregnancy Update

How far along? 25 Weeks – The baby is the size of a rutabaga and weighs approximately 1.7lbs!

Total weight gain: More than 10lbs.  Enough to cook a proper baby boy.

Bump Alert: Oh yea!  I’m finally able to do the classic “bump clasp” pose now that there’s enough bump to speak of.

Week 25

Maternity clothes? I’m wearing half regular and half maternity tops, but still 100% maternity bottoms.

Stretch marks? Still moisturizing and still luckily stretch mark-free!

Sleep: Tons and I’m always wanting more!  8-9 hours per weeknight and the occasional weekend nap.  This past weekend called for one on both Saturday and Sunday.  The good news is that I’m feeling more refreshed when I finally do wake up.

Workouts: Four or Five days of walking and two days of strength training.  I’m still feeling really good with my routine.

Best moment these weeks: Spending time with family in Michigan!

Miss anything? I’m not missing anything, but it was a bit odd not being able to have a holiday drink or cheers with the rest of the group.  It was kind of sweet when people teased me about clinking glasses with water.

Food cravings: Nothing out of the usual.  After having big meals with my family, there were some super sweet desserts, so now and then I feel like having something sweet.

Labour signs: No!

Symptoms: Slightly swollen feet at the end of the work day and an ever-growing bump.

Belly button in or out? Still an innie despite the belly growth.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Baby Stuff: We received our stroller from my in-laws and a super cute children’s Michigan State t-shirt.

Then I had a great baby shower with my side of the family.  We got several cute additions to Baby Boy’s wardrobe and our diaper bag from my sister.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and tired

Looking forward to: I have two Scentsy home parties and two major events at school this upcoming week: a campus tour to the University of Florida and a field trip to see “Victor Frankenstein” with my English IV students.

Goals for The Week of October 26th

Happy Monday!

I’m still flying on a renewed-energy high, but didn’t get quite the right amount of sleep last night, so I’m desperately missing my caffeine routine.  I am going to make an extra “cup” of coffee to hopefully trick my brain and body into thinking it’s a true serving.  My second cups of coffee are always about 2/3 decaf and 1/3 regular, but only on days that I need them.  Oh coffee, how I miss thee.

This week is a “short” week at school because Friday are parent/teacher conferences for the first quarter ALREADY!  Time has truly flown by!  In only a few short weeks we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with my family in Michigan.  It’s going to be a great time sharing our pregnancy, in-the-flesh, and the joy of welcoming our little boy sooner than we think.

I want to do a better job of setting and monitoring the progress of my weekly goals.  Right now I just have a list and that helps me to create the goals, but the follow-through isn’t as consistent as I’d like.  Here are a few that I am working on for this week:

1.  70 ounces of water a day.  I know that this sounds like a lot, but when I had my goal of 64 ounces, I still felt like I was thirsty.  I also want to ensure that my liquid intake is mostly water and not juices or coffee.

2.  5 days of exercise per week.  I really felt good after taking a few days off of working out towards the end of last week.  I would like to keep my weekends on the calendar, but two days a week of relaxing before work will help me to feel  better during the day.

3.  Vacuum the house and car.  Both the house and car need a good sweeping, especially after we played at the beach both mornings this past weekend.

4.  More veggies, fewer pretzels.  I’ve been tell you all about my “salty” cravings throughout the entirety of this pregnancy, and I have not done a good enough job of balancing the healthy with the non-healthy options.  I tend to reach for the easier choices, which tend to be pretzel chips, BBQ flavor anything, and frozen vegetables that have been pre-flavored. I stocked up on some delicious and flavorful vegetables this weekend, and went back to an old staple from my high school days: cottage cheese.  I know, it’s an acquired taste.  In fact, I have avoided it for YEARS, hence the “high school days” comment.

Castaway Island Preserve and Last Day Off

The glorious list of reasons to love living in Florida just continues to provide for us.  In the county that we work and live in, the Thanksgiving break has been six days long.

Wednesday through Monday = NO WORK & ALL PLAY MAKES FANCY OATMEAL A COZY GIRL!

I love you, Jacksonville!

While giving away praise, I might as well dish out a little more to the Jaxxy side of the Sunshine State because I’ve just discovered on their official site a list of all the hiking trails and nature preserves in the county.  As much as I’d love to continue hiking at the UNF Nature Trails, it’s still on a college campus and we all know how much they like to wring out as much money in the form of pay-to-park lots.  $3.00 a day is not quite in the budget for a 3 mile nature walk.  On the weekends it’s free, but if I wanna walk after work and take advantage of being in 60+ degree temps in November, UNF ain’t gonna cut it!

COJ.net to the rescue!  Dan found us a great little nature preserve to test drive this morning.

Absolutely gorgeous!  The trail is about a mile long, so Dan and I walked it about three times.

The cutest part was that just as we were getting ready to leave, we came upon a family who were getting their professional photos taken for their holiday cards.  Well I’ve got that covered minus the expense of a photographer!

On a side note, the Country Apples that I made yesterday turned out amazing!

It was like eating an apple pie crumble!  If you’ve got the time and the apples, get in your kitchen NOW and make it!
