DIY Dividers and Journal Storage

Happy Tuesday!  Before I head off with the husband to watch the final installment of “The Hobbit,” I wanted to share my artsy-fartsy project this morning, a DIY subject divider and simple storage solution.

I have evolved my Bullet Journal system in two ways:

1.  A moleskine journal for my daily journaling

2.  A 3-ring mini binder for tracking, creating, and brain dumping (a charming term, I know)

I bought a mini binder and dividers from Target and created the labels for the subjects that I found to be the most useful:

“This morning, I wanted to add a few pages from my 2014 moleskin journal which did not fit into any of these tabs,” said Murphy’s Law.  I would have to create a new tab.  Using an index card as my base, I began to construct and create:

I have a small collection of pictures, designs, quotes, and magazine cutouts that I used in addition to Washi tape to make my divider cover.

Layer 1

After fussy cutting my papers and tape, I layered the pictures, adhering them with a rolling tape dispenser found in the scrapbooking section of most craft stores.

Final Page

I affixed the page to a pre-made divider and labeled it, “Life”

Wanting to finalize my journal, I needed a storage system for small pieces of paper, receipts, notes, and photos.  My eyes landed on a stack of extra envelopes that were left over from our Christmas cards this year.  Perfect!

Envelope Storage

I have a Franklin Covey 7-hole punch that quickly turned an envelope into a storage system for my journal.

Best Year Review

I have begun to reflect on 2014, as early as February really, and almost instantly I’m reminded of many blessings and high points that I want to build upon for 2015. On the flip side, I don’t want to brush past the tough lessons learned better through error, much the way I scoot past people I am avoiding the stop-and-chat in hallways and Target. I found an wonderful reflection and goal setting worksheet via Moritz Fine Designs that I need to share with you as I complete my own version.

My Best Year Reflection:

This is the 2015 Reading Challenge that I mentioned in the “3 New Things I Want to Try” section.  It comes from PopSugar’s website.

Five Things Friday

Happy Friday, Fancy Oatmeal Readers!

I am down to my last Friday before the big move to Florida begins and I’m WIPED OUT! Let’s just say that unless by some miracle someone has made a movie about male dancers staring some muscular hotties, I’ve lost my will to go on.

I’m somehow refreshed.

Anyways, let’s get right to the five of this particular Friday!

1. This morning I made some to-die-for granola!

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to enjoy yogurt quite the same without the cinammony with a slight hint of salty taste. I hear you’re supposed to be able to store it on your shelf for up to a month, but what nut job is able to ration out their baked goods for more than week, two at best???

Ok, maybe I should take it a bit easier.

2. My run this morning was pretty good, and then this young lady reminded me that I desperately needed to update my running log page on my ol’ website. Thank you for the reminder and I was able to put everyone to sleep bring everybody up to speed.

3. Remember when my parents’ dining room looked like this?

Well now it looks like this after I spent 3 hours locked in that room:

Where the H did it all go???

Oh, right! That’s where I left it!

4. While out and about yesterday, I decided to empty our bank accounts go shopping at Target. While I was there, I decided to pick up a few more of the Champion sports bras to replace a few that have seen their better days. They have a new color style that caught my eye, so I picked up three. Why buy one when it’s better to buy three? Am I right or am I right?

This is the one that I purchased and wore today:

After I put it on, I’m not so sure it’s the right color palette for me…but then again?

Might as well keep it all in the “partially sun kissed” theme.

I also bought this running skirt and it worked out like a charm.

Thank you Target for saving me a little bit of money on individual items at least.

5. Tonight is Date Night, and Dear Hubby and I are going out to see the new Mark Wahlberg movie, Ted.

Think we’ll be able to get a lil love for the circa 1990s crowd???

Don’t toy with me, Playa.
