Week 22 Pregnancy Update

How far along? 22 Weeks – The baby is the size of an orange and weighs approximately 1 full pound!

Total weight gain: More than 10lbs.  I’ll have an accurate update after tomorrow.

Bump Alert: Oh yea!  I’m finally able to do the classic “bump clasp” pose now that there’s enough bump to speak of.

22 Weeks

A trip down memory lane…

14-22 Weeks

I couldn’t pick out why Week 22’s picture seemed different to me until I realized that I had switched around my arm placement.  Sorry that I’m covering up so much of the bitty bump.

Maternity clothes? I’m wearing half regular and half maternity tops, but still 100% maternity bottoms.

Stretch marks? Still moisturizing and still luckily stretch mark-free!

Sleep: Tons and I’m always wanting more!  8-9 hours per weeknight and the occasional weekend nap.  This past weekend called for one on both Saturday and Sunday.  The good news is that I’m feeling more refreshed when I finally do wake up.

Workouts: Four or Five days of walking and two days of strength training.  I’m still feeling really good with my routine.

Best moment this week: Last week, I noticeably felt Baby Boy moving around, but now I can almost time his movements: 20-30 minutes after I eat.  I’ve read that this week, babies really begin to work on their grasping motions, usually around the umbilical cord.  I’m not sure if that’s what I’m feeling, but it cracks me up to think that he is doing his version of “ringing the dinner” bell when he’s ready for food.

Miss anything? It’s not that I miss it, but I attempted to lay down on my stomach to take a close-up photo of the new Scentsy scent bar tags (as seen below), and I quickly realized that I can no longer be in that position.  Sorry, Baby!  I hope I didn’t squish you too much!

Food cravings: I don’t crave it, but I have started eating cottage cheese again, as I’ve mentioned before.  Right now, I have a light dinner of cottage cheese, cucumber and apple slices on the side, and some sort of protein.

Labour signs: No!

Symptoms: Reduced tiredness and growing bump.

Belly button in or out? Still an innie despite the belly growth.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Baby Stuff: Nothing new this week, with the exception of the arrival of the Scentsy warmer that we are going to be placing in the baby’s nursery:

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and tired

Looking forward to: My next OB-GYN appointment tomorrow to see our little man once more.

Week 15/16 Bump Update

Week 15 and 16 Blue Dress

Symptoms:   There have been a few days in which I’ve felt a little bit dizzy now and again.  It’s usually when I’ve gone more than 4 hours without having a little something to eat.  I’m noticing a pattern that really the only sign that I’m pregnant is eating for the needs of two.  #Blessed

Changes to My Body:  I can tell that I haven’t been workout as hard for the past several weeks.  Certain parts of my body that were smooth are a little more soft.  It’s been a little difficult getting used to this change, mentally, but I know that it’s all part of the process for a wonderful outcome in the end.  Plus, anything that I find uncomfortable about my body is something that I can tackle when the time is right.

Weight Gain: Not sure about the numbers, but have felt a body composition change: fuller hips, and less defined waistline and muscles.

Workouts:  I am still walking about 6-9 miles a day, depending on if it’s a cardio day or not.  The days that I go to the gym are spent focusing on either upper or lower body.  Here are a few of my routines:

Second Trimester Low Body

Cravings:  Honey Crisp apples, pineapple, Chinese chicken salad/tangy salad dressing, orange juice, and still loving my sweet potatoes.

Aversions: None! The streak continues! #16WeeksInARow

Overall I’m Feeling:  Positive and anxious!  We have a 3D ultrasound in 8 days (not that I’m counting) and we cannot wait to find out the gender of our baby.  It will be interesting to see if the various at-home gender tests are accurate in their prediction of a boy.

Purchases:  We have been very fortunate that our parents/extended family love us so much.  We have been able to add crib, rocking chair and ottoman, play yard, and high chair to our nursery.

Looking forward to: a speedy, yet quiet 8 days!!

Low Body Second Trimester Pregnancy Workout and Gender Wives Tales

I’ve been fortunate enough to have had a pretty smooth-sailing pregnancy, so when I have the energy in the morning to hit the gym, I want to try and make the most of it.  I’ve modified the low body exercises so that I do most, if not all, without weights and at a slower pace.  Here is what I did this morning:

Second Trimester Low Body

I try to get in around 10,000 steps a day, and thanks to my FitBit, I am able to easily track them.  Because it was raining this morning, I decided to stay longer at the gym and use the recumbent bicycle for a nice 20 minute cardio session.

Tonight we are going to our friends’ gender reveal party for their 4th expectant bundle of joy.  I got a preview of some of the games we are going to be playing, and of course one is a betting pool to see who can accurately guess the gender before the official results are shown via a colored-cake slice.  Our friends are super creative, so they made up a chart that revealed all the possible results based upon old wives tales and tricks.  I thought it was so adorable that I would create my own list.  Dan and I won’t find out what we are having for another two weeks (!!!!!), so we will be able to tell how accurate these tests really are.

Carrying high versus low:  Boy

13 Weeks Dress

We didn’t do a Week 14 picture because we were so busy and I was frankly not feeling up to it. I will have to make up for it this weekend.

I am guessing this because I don’t really think that I am showing enough to say that I am either way, but maybe a bit on the low side since that’s where I feel a little more pregnant, if that makes any sense.

Increased Acne: Boy

I have not had any extra acne since becoming pregnant.  I’m fairly lucky that I only get a random pimple now and again.

Baby’s Heart Rate: 155 at the last ultrasound, so Girl

Cravings, Sweet vs. Salty/Savory: Boy

I tend to go for either treat really, but mostly salty.  A few weeks ago, I craved salty, greasy fries.  My new kick is sweet potatoes with ketchup and anything under the category of Mexican food.  Salty and savory taste buds lead to another male in the family.

Chinese Birth Chart/Calendar: Boy

Dreams about the Baby: Boy

I’ve only had one dream about our baby, and it was about me preparing the family to go out somewhere.  I was dressing our son in many layers of clothing, so I am hoping it was a dream about visiting my family in Michigan.

Husband Weight Gain: Boy

My husband has had the metabolism of a teenager since the day I met him.  He hasn’t increased his eating, but has helped me to indulge now and again.  He hasn’t gained any weight, so all signs point to boy.

Morning Sickness: Boy

I am one of the lucky ones that didn’t experience any negative pregnancy symptoms, which includes morning sickness.

So even though all the home remedies for detecting baby’s sex are pointing to a Boy, I am going to keep an open mind as we go to our appointment in a few weeks.
