Week 26-27 Pregnancy Update

How far along? 27 Weeks today! – The baby is the size of a cucumber and weighs approximately 2.2lbs!

Total weight gain:  Enough to cook a proper baby boy.

Bump Alert: FULL alert!

27 Weeks

Maternity clothes? I’m wearing half regular and half maternity tops, but still 100% maternity bottoms.

Stretch marks? Still moisturizing and still luckily stretch mark-free!

Sleep: I have no problem falling asleep, but the little bundle of joy has started kicking and pushing on mommy’s bladder around 3:00am these days.  I find it difficult to fall back asleep, so I’ve been getting more reading done in those wee hours of the morning.

Workouts: Four or Five days of walking and two days of strength training.  I’m still feeling really good with my routine.

Best moment the week: Monday was my birthday and my 4-week appointment.  My doctor said the baby’s heartbeat sounds great I’m all set for my next and last 4-week appointment before moving to 2-week appointments.  Time is flying!

Food cravings: Nothing out of the usual.  I’m still all about the salty foods.

Labour signs: No!

Symptoms: Slightly swollen feet at the end of the work day and an ever-growing bump.

Belly button in or out? Still an innie despite the belly growth.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Baby Stuff: One of my birthday gifts was another addition to the Baby Ferrari Library

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and tired

Looking forward to: Two weeks of Holiday break that starts on Friday!!

Week 22 Pregnancy Update

How far along? 22 Weeks – The baby is the size of an orange and weighs approximately 1 full pound!

Total weight gain: More than 10lbs.  I’ll have an accurate update after tomorrow.

Bump Alert: Oh yea!  I’m finally able to do the classic “bump clasp” pose now that there’s enough bump to speak of.

22 Weeks

A trip down memory lane…

14-22 Weeks

I couldn’t pick out why Week 22’s picture seemed different to me until I realized that I had switched around my arm placement.  Sorry that I’m covering up so much of the bitty bump.

Maternity clothes? I’m wearing half regular and half maternity tops, but still 100% maternity bottoms.

Stretch marks? Still moisturizing and still luckily stretch mark-free!

Sleep: Tons and I’m always wanting more!  8-9 hours per weeknight and the occasional weekend nap.  This past weekend called for one on both Saturday and Sunday.  The good news is that I’m feeling more refreshed when I finally do wake up.

Workouts: Four or Five days of walking and two days of strength training.  I’m still feeling really good with my routine.

Best moment this week: Last week, I noticeably felt Baby Boy moving around, but now I can almost time his movements: 20-30 minutes after I eat.  I’ve read that this week, babies really begin to work on their grasping motions, usually around the umbilical cord.  I’m not sure if that’s what I’m feeling, but it cracks me up to think that he is doing his version of “ringing the dinner” bell when he’s ready for food.

Miss anything? It’s not that I miss it, but I attempted to lay down on my stomach to take a close-up photo of the new Scentsy scent bar tags (as seen below), and I quickly realized that I can no longer be in that position.  Sorry, Baby!  I hope I didn’t squish you too much!

Food cravings: I don’t crave it, but I have started eating cottage cheese again, as I’ve mentioned before.  Right now, I have a light dinner of cottage cheese, cucumber and apple slices on the side, and some sort of protein.

Labour signs: No!

Symptoms: Reduced tiredness and growing bump.

Belly button in or out? Still an innie despite the belly growth.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Baby Stuff: Nothing new this week, with the exception of the arrival of the Scentsy warmer that we are going to be placing in the baby’s nursery:

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and tired

Looking forward to: My next OB-GYN appointment tomorrow to see our little man once more.

Week 14 Baby Bump Update

Welcome to Week 14!

14 Weeks 2

14 Weeks Dress

Blue Shirt Collage 14 Weeks

Dress Collage 14 Weeks

I think that you can see the tiniest of bumps in my Week 14 pictures, especially in my blue dress.

Symptoms:   Same story, new week: the only real difference I’ve noticed from Week 13 to Week 14 is that my appetite has really amped up!  I am finding myself enjoying those additional 300 calories that are recommended for the 2nd trimester.  Carbs never felt so good.

I do find that if I don’t eat a little something (a handful of carrots, half a protein bar, a banana) every three-to-four hours, I get a little sluggish and light-headed.  Thank goodness I invested in a classroom refrigerator.

Changes to My Body:  I haven’t gained any weight, but around the middle of Week 14, I felt a little more bloated and that pushed the very small bump that I have out a bit.  I have also started using coconut oil on my tummy and breasts in an attempt to keep any stretch marks at bay.  My skin has been noticeably dryer, so the moisturizing has been a good choice.

Weight Gain: None

Workouts:  I’m back in my old routine, but have decided to switch up my abs workouts.  I have stopped doing any type of exercise that requires me to lay on my back, so no more traditional crunches.  I have replaced the old abs routine with some of the following:

  • Standing Side Crunches (without weights)
  • Planks
  • Superman Planks
  • Standing Russian Twists
  • Standing Toe Touches
  • Can-Cans

Cravings:  I am in love with the idea of juicy fruits: Honey Crisp apples and pineapples.  I have been buying them the last few weeks and truly take care of this craving.  Steamed broccoli and I are best friends along with BirdsEye steamed sweet potatoes.  I can’t seem to get enough of these little guys:

Aversions: None! #Winning #14WeeksInARow

Overall I’m Feeling:  Healthy and fortunate.  My energy levels are still pretty high in the morning, which is great because that’s when I workout and teach my classes.  I’ve been getting a lot of sleep each night, around 8.75 to 9.5 hours (I know, slug life!)

Purchases:  No new purchases have been made, but I did have an appointment with a Grovia rep, a cloth diaper company that I have decided we are going to use with our little one.

My mom used cloth diapers with me, and my friends rave about how simple and eco-friendly these diapers are, so I wanted to learn more.  There are a lot of cloth diaper companies out there, but the word-of-mouth has been outstanding for Grovia.

Looking forward to: I have a follow-up doctor’s appointment with a new physician in the same OBGYN office I’ve been going thus far.  Four doctors rotate, and before our little buddy arrives, I will be able to meet with all of them.  Oh, I am always looking forward to another snack/meal.
