Week 23, 24, and 25 Pregnancy Updates

Hi Friends!

I apologize for the delay in updates, but it’s been a very busy three weeks.

1.  I helped organize for my school’s Homecoming dance and spent a Saturday morning/early afternoon decorating for the Casino theme.  One of my seniors tried to emulate my baby bump, circa 23 weeks.  I hope this passes for my Week 23 bump pic.

2.  I began preparing my Scentsy wax bar samples for some upcoming home parties.  After I was done making 300+, the house smelled amazing!!

3.  Dan and I traveled to Michigan for Thanksgiving, and my aunts and sister threw me a mini-baby shower.  It was absolutely awesome.

Baby Boy received several awesome gifts, including a book that my niece insisted we read out loud!

4.  Scentsy just wrapped up (until the end of Friday) the Most Wonderful Sale of the Year, so I’ve been helping clients place their orders.  It was a little stressful while the website was sluggish, but we got all the orders placed!

5.  A student and avid hunter brought me some venison, so my mom made stew from it…so many delicious childhood memories!

Official Week 25 Pregnancy Update

How far along? 25 Weeks – The baby is the size of a rutabaga and weighs approximately 1.7lbs!

Total weight gain: More than 10lbs.  Enough to cook a proper baby boy.

Bump Alert: Oh yea!  I’m finally able to do the classic “bump clasp” pose now that there’s enough bump to speak of.

Week 25

Maternity clothes? I’m wearing half regular and half maternity tops, but still 100% maternity bottoms.

Stretch marks? Still moisturizing and still luckily stretch mark-free!

Sleep: Tons and I’m always wanting more!  8-9 hours per weeknight and the occasional weekend nap.  This past weekend called for one on both Saturday and Sunday.  The good news is that I’m feeling more refreshed when I finally do wake up.

Workouts: Four or Five days of walking and two days of strength training.  I’m still feeling really good with my routine.

Best moment these weeks: Spending time with family in Michigan!

Miss anything? I’m not missing anything, but it was a bit odd not being able to have a holiday drink or cheers with the rest of the group.  It was kind of sweet when people teased me about clinking glasses with water.

Food cravings: Nothing out of the usual.  After having big meals with my family, there were some super sweet desserts, so now and then I feel like having something sweet.

Labour signs: No!

Symptoms: Slightly swollen feet at the end of the work day and an ever-growing bump.

Belly button in or out? Still an innie despite the belly growth.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Baby Stuff: We received our stroller from my in-laws and a super cute children’s Michigan State t-shirt.

Then I had a great baby shower with my side of the family.  We got several cute additions to Baby Boy’s wardrobe and our diaper bag from my sister.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and tired

Looking forward to: I have two Scentsy home parties and two major events at school this upcoming week: a campus tour to the University of Florida and a field trip to see “Victor Frankenstein” with my English IV students.

Week 22 Pregnancy Update

How far along? 22 Weeks – The baby is the size of an orange and weighs approximately 1 full pound!

Total weight gain: More than 10lbs.  I’ll have an accurate update after tomorrow.

Bump Alert: Oh yea!  I’m finally able to do the classic “bump clasp” pose now that there’s enough bump to speak of.

22 Weeks

A trip down memory lane…

14-22 Weeks

I couldn’t pick out why Week 22’s picture seemed different to me until I realized that I had switched around my arm placement.  Sorry that I’m covering up so much of the bitty bump.

Best moment this week: Last week, I noticeably felt Baby Boy moving around, but now I can almost time his movements: 20-30 minutes after I eat.  I’ve read that this week, babies really begin to work on their grasping motions, usually around the umbilical cord.  I’m not sure if that’s what I’m feeling, but it cracks me up to think that he is doing his version of “ringing the dinner” bell when he’s ready for food.

Miss anything? It’s not that I miss it, but I attempted to lay down on my stomach to take a close-up photo of the new Scentsy scent bar tags (as seen below), and I quickly realized that I can no longer be in that position.  Sorry, Baby!  I hope I didn’t squish you too much!

Food cravings: I don’t crave it, but I have started eating cottage cheese again, as I’ve mentioned before.  Right now, I have a light dinner of cottage cheese, cucumber and apple slices on the side, and some sort of protein.

Labour signs: No!

Symptoms: Reduced tiredness and growing bump.

Belly button in or out? Still an innie despite the belly growth.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Baby Stuff: Nothing new this week, with the exception of the arrival of the Scentsy warmer that we are going to be placing in the baby’s nursery:

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and tired

Looking forward to: My next OB-GYN appointment tomorrow to see our little man once more.

Week 18 Pregnancy Update

18 Weeks

How far along? 18 Weeks

Total weight gain: Around 7 lbs.

Bump Alert: To me, I can totally see the bump developing, but the clothing that I have been wearing doesn’t really show it off.

14 vs 18 Weeks

Maternity clothes? Only bottoms.  I have some really great demi-style pregnancy pants for both work and causal.  I ordered ALL of my maternity clothing through ThredUp, a wonderful website that sells and buys gently-used women’s and baby/children’s clothing.

Stretch marks? None.  I’ve been moisturizing religiously!

Sleep: I’ve become a chronic napper lately.  This weekend I napped both days, between 2-4 hours AND went right to bed.

Workouts: The routine hasn’t changed much, but I have noticed that I’m more inclined to go walking outside now that the temperatures have started to fall.  I hit up the gym 3-4 times a week to do moderate upper and lower body workouts.

Best moment this week: Monday we found out that we are having a boy!  Particularly after Thursday, I have really felt a lot of movement from our little boy.  So exciting!  I can’t wait for my husband to be able to start enjoying this experience as well!

Miss anything? Some of my cute outfits for work, but I have some great things waiting or me soon!

Food cravings: bread, tangy flavor (marinade and salad dressings) and sweet potatoes with ketchup, per usual!

Labour signs: No!

Symptoms: Extreme fatigue!

Belly button in or out? In, although I’m starting to get nervous as to what it’s going to look like if my innie becomes and outie!

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Baby Stuff: I am in love with the phrase “I love you to the moon and back” and found a beautiful cross-stitch pattern that I wanted to make for our son’s nursery.  Here is the original pattern:

65ff602e0ccec088807fdafaf5b1ae74

Here is the progress that I have made over the past few weeks:

I love you moon

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy mood most of the time, especially right after having my one cup of daily coffee or before heading to bed =)

Looking forward to: My “20 Week” appointment.  Technically, I am just one day shy of reaching the 19-week point, and my posts review the previous week, so today’s appointment is about the midway point of the pregnancy.  WOW!  Time has really flown by!

Reflections:  I have been spending a lot of my time thinking about what is going to happen with my career once Baby Boy arrives.  I know, logically, my job is IDEAL for a family: the majority of my nights are off, weekends are off, holidays and summers are off, and I am secure in my job requirements.  I have things down!  I can’t help but feel that if I’m a good mother, I will stay at home.  Some say that it’s such a short amount of time for a baby to be little and not be enrolled in some sort of pre-school, so don’t jeopardize anything career-wise.  Sometimes I think that same argument supports my desire to take a few years off.  Financially, it’s not truly an option; I need to work.  I considered trying to find some work-from-home jobs, but when I think about it without my rose-colored glasses, I don’t want to give up my awesome schedule or the money that we need to make our lifestyle possible.  We aren’t rich, but we are comfortable.  I want to give my son as many opportunities as possible, so I know not staying at home for a few years will only continue to give him the best my husband and I possibly can.  It’s just a hard conclusion to come to sometimes.
