Week 33 Pregnancy Update

How far along? Currently 33 weeks!  According to the “What to Expect” app, the baby is the size of a honeydew melon and weighs around 4.5 lbs.

Total weight gain:  Enough to cook a proper baby boy.

Bump Alert: FULL alert!

33 Weeks

This looks eerily similar to my Week 32 photo, but I promise that it was taken a week later.  My pregnant/mommy friends know that at this stage of the game, you wear what fits and doesn’t give you fits, hence a repeat outfit.  Plus, good hair day.

Maternity clothes? Exclusively maternity!  I sleep in my husband’s t-shirts, but other than that, I cannot use anything from my former wardrobe except a white, zip-up hoodie and sports bras (which is very weird to think I thought they used to fit before pregnancy).

Stretch marks? Still moisturizing and still luckily stretch mark-free!

Sleep: This is not so good.  I’ve found myself tossing and turning a lot during the night because of soreness in my legs and rib area.  I have not purchased a pregnancy pillow, such as the Snoogle or Boppy, but have taken to place a regular one between my legs.  It helps, but I definitely am not getting a sound sleep.

Workouts: I reduced my daily steps goal to 10,000 steps instead of 15,000.  I still reach the higher number most days, but as long as I reach my goal, I am happy.  I’m also doing strength workouts, but they are still all body-weight based.

Best moment the week: My aunt and uncle came down to Michigan to visit and take care of some business.  We haven’t seen them since Thanksgiving, so it is great to see them again.

Food cravings: This isn’t a cravings things, but I have made a concerted effort to eat smaller portions more frequently during the day.  I’ve also taken to making my weekly breakfast smoothies on Sunday, which has been awesome!  They’re a great way to start the day.  Here is my recipe:

  • 1 C. almond milk
  • 1 C. water
  • 1 Tbsn. chia seeds
  • 4 C. frozen fruit (mostly berries)
  • 1 full scoop of protein powder – I use Target’s Market Pantry brand
  • 2 C. spinach

I blend it all up in my blender and separate the batch into almost four servings.  I use 16oz. glass canning jars.  I bought mine here: Ball Jar, 12-count set.

Labour signs: No!

Symptoms: Dry skin, rib soreness, and shortness of breath.

Belly button in or out? Still an innie despite the belly growth.

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Baby Stuff: Our cousins sent us some wonderful goodies for the nursery from our registry.  We now have a few more bedding items, but also the car window sun shield to help keep the sun out of our son’s eyes while we are out and about.

Baby Bathtime Robe

Shower Wrap – I can’t wait to see our little munchkin in this robe/wrap after bath time.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and tired

Mom Advice

I am starting to read a lot of blog article and advice columns about what items I should be packing for myself and husband for the hospital stay.  It will be just the two of us, so we will be in charge of keeping each other entertained and calm.  Haha.  Here is a list of items I’ve accumulated for the hospital bags:

  • cell phone & charger
  • ipad and charger
  • Slippers with rubber/gripped bottoms
  • Robe that opens in the front
  • Nursing bras
  • Loose/comfortable pajamas that can be thrown out if they get messy
  • “Mommy Underwear” – TMI so if you’ve been through it, you know.  If you haven’t, then I’ll spare you the what and why
  • Healthy snacks
  • Toiletries – toothbrush/paste, brush, shampoo/conditioner, face wash, some makeup, deodorant
  • Pillow for napping daddy
  • a deck of cards
  • Baby’s outfit for going home
  • Mommy’s outfit for going home
