How far along? Currently 32 weeks! According to the “What to Expect” app, the baby is the size of a head of lettuce and weighs around 3.9 lbs. I went to have my last ultrasound of the pregnancy, and the nurse informed me Baby Boy is 4lbs. 3oz.
Total weight gain: Enough to cook a proper baby boy.
Bump Alert: FULL alert!
Check out the difference two weeks can make!
Maternity clothes? Exclusively maternity! I sleep in my husband’s t-shirts, but other than that, I cannot use anything from my former wardrobe except a white, zip-up hoodie and sports bras (which is very weird to think I thought they used to fit before pregnancy).
Stretch marks? Still moisturizing and still luckily stretch mark-free!
Sleep: I am back in the “need a nap” phase, but with working, it’s not happening. I’ve also started to toss and turn more during the night, which wakes me up around 2am. Lovely. Then it’s off-and-on slumber until my alarm goes off.
Workouts: I reduced my daily steps goal to 10,000 steps instead of 15,000. I still reach the higher number most days, but as long as I reach my goal, I am happy. I’m also doing strength workouts, but they are still all body-weight based.
Best moment the week: My OB-GYN appointment that turned into an unscheduled 3D ultrasound session! I am so in love with my son’s sweet face.
Food cravings: This isn’t a cravings things, but I have made a concerted effort to eat smaller portions more frequently during the day. I’ve also taken to making my weekly breakfast smoothies on Sunday, which has been awesome! They’re a great way to start the day. Here is my recipe:
- 1 C. almond milk
- 1 C. water
- 1 Tbsn. chia seeds
- 4 C. frozen fruit (mostly berries)
- 1 full scoop of protein powder – I use Target’s Market Pantry brand
- 2 C. spinach
I blend it all up in my blender and separate the batch into almost four servings. I use 16oz. glass canning jars. I bought mine here: Ball Jar, 12-count set.
Labour signs: No!
Symptoms: Dry skin and a little bit of shortness of breath if I am talking while walking up the stairs.
Belly button in or out? Still an innie despite the belly growth.
Wedding rings on or off: On.
Baby Stuff: We already were gifted our stroller, but after being with friends over the weekend who struggled with multiple car seats, carriers, and strollers for the 2.5 year old and 6-week old, I asked my husband to make sure that we knew what we were doing with ours. We registered for the Graco Fastaction Fold Jogger Click Connect Travel System, which I am sure we are going to love.
It was fun to play with our baby goodies, and it helped rev up the “Get here soon, Baby” engine in us both!
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and tired
There’s still two months to go, but it’s been fun talking to friends and family who are out-of-state about when they are going to come visit us after the baby is born. I am going to take 6-weeks off, but because the birth is so relatively close to our summer break, we will have tons of time to welcome them all then. I’ve read about the stresses associated with the first few weeks of having a newborn in the house, so we want to cherish that time as much as possible, learn as much as possible, and have the time our son meets his new family as pleasant for everyone as possible. Summer will be a much more relaxed time for our little family rather than trying to adjust to having a baby and have guests coming and going. I have some mommy-friends who gave me that advice and I think they’re very right. Plus, Baby Boy will be so much more alert at 3 months old than 3 weeks.
