Friday night, I participated in a 5k with a great group of friends. It was the Jaxtoberfest 5k Beer Run.
Well, honestly, it was more like a Beer Speed Walk that turned into a Beer Walk. We did intend on running, but you know how it goes sometimes.
The next morning, I decided to lace up my running shoes and get a real run on. I had set the goal of running 3.1 miles, but it felt so good, that I kept on going and ended up with 4.5 miles logged. The next morning, I thought I would try it again, roll the dice, and before I knew it, I had run 5 miles. I got it back: the runner’s high.
I spent the next several hours reviewing my old posts about running, and came to three executive decisions:
- I’m back!!!
- I am going to train for the St. Augustine Half Marathon like a champ
- I signed up for two more races (easy to do when you haven’t run a half in two years)
I’m so excited about training and preparing for these races. I’m doubly excited because I’ve convinced my friend and husband to run with me! I’ve never trained with more than just myself – it should be an awesome experience!
