What is feedback for learning, and how well do you give it to students?

What it is/What it isn’t

  • Reflective of the individual student / Blanket Statements
  • Verbal, Written, Visual confirmation / Ambiguous 
  • Constructive / Destructive
  • Supportive / Critical or Offensive
  • Specific / Generic terms such as “Good Job” or “Needs Improvement”
  • Reciprocal / Ends with the Teacher
  • Gives suggestions for improvement / Leaves no room for growth
