St. Augustine Half Marathon: Round Two

I made a huge decision this morning – sleep deprivation is a real you-know-what.  When I first began this blog in Alaska, I devoted the majority of its content to running, trying to remain as healthy as possible, and documenting my life on the island.  Since moving to Florida, I have twisted the focus to highlight my teaching experiences and reading habits.  Today, before the sun has shown its glorious face, I have made the decision to sign up for my 4th half marathon, the second time around for the St. Augustine Half Marathon.

As I mentioned, this is not the first time that I have participated in this particular half marathon, and I enjoyed it so much, I decided that it would be the ideal race to get me back into long-distance running.  It’s also the perfect time of the year in Florida to begin outdoor training.  The mornings are less humid and swampy.

The last time that I ran the St. Augustine Half, I came in just over the 2:00 mark.  I’m hoping to emulate that.  I’m not going to try and set a PR because it’s been such a long time since I have run in these conditions.  Here is a wrap up of my first St. Augustine Half.

So, does this mean that my Fancy Oatmeal blog is returning?  Partially.  I’m not going to lose the focus of my teaching/reading blog, but I am going to incorporate my training plan, update you on how hateful Future Me is going to be towards Today Me for signing us up, but I promise that I am not doing a transformation.

With all of this being said, I’m off to put on my running shoes!
