Reflective Teaching Challenge Day Twelve: In the Next Five Years


How do you envision your teaching changing over the next five years?

Heaven knows what technology and standards will be around in the year 2019/2020 (HOLY MOLY!) but just like was mentioned in a previous English department meeting, “good teaching is good teaching.”


I can think about what I would change as far as content, but let’s face it, looking to the future in the world of education is all about the technology.  That’s the easiest and most obvious answer, but I have another change I’d like to incorporate: global awareness.  There is a harmonious connection between these two elements of becoming aware of your presence and staying connected via technology.  Ultimately, I want to help my students see the connection between how literature of the past was influenced by the outside elements and culture and how people of today are impacted in the same manner, they may not be writing about it.  There are so many world-wide issues that young people may feel too small to be influenced by or to influence themselves, but it is my hope to make those connections with them.
