I am very proud to tell you that both Dan and I survived our first day back to school after a long holiday break. The only time I felt as if I wasn’t going to make it was when the alarm clock first went off, but that’s everyday. It was really nice to see my students again, and unless I was still groggy, it seemed like they were ok with being back as well…or not hateful at least.
As a reward for our success, Dan and I decided to use a gift card that we received at Christmas and had dinner at Panera Bread. I was so happy with my Roasted Turkey and Cranberry Panini from my last visit, I decided to try another grilled sandwich, the Smokehouse Turkey Panini…it was just ok.
I’m not really a fan of cheddar cheese, so it wasn’t a total shock. You live and you learn.
On the other hand, I decided to indulge in my $.99 pastry and ordered the Red Velvet Crinkle Cookie.
I felt no guilt ordering this because of my long run from that morning. I consider it to be one of the “side perks” of running extra miles.
The cookie itself was similar to the Smokehouse Panini in that it was mediocre…a little bit of a let down. There was one bit that helped to redeem the entire cookie experience: the middle bite. I usually eat the outsides of a cookie first, leaving the moistest, chewiest part for last.
