Happy Wednesday, Oatmeal Readers,
I apologize for my late afternoon posting, but I’ve just recovered from celebrating my second wedding anniversary with Dear Hubby. Man, he knows how to show a girl a good time!
Let’s play a game: First Anniversary or Second Anniversary? It’s a really easy game; I’ll tell you something that we did to celebrate and you tell me if we did it in 2011 or 2012. The final prize? You get to brag to your friends and I’ll send you a virtual thumbs up!
Ready! Let’s go:
1. Went to a baseball game?
All signs point to 2011
2. Played Glow-in-the-dark Putt Putt?
Survey says: 2012
3. Ate dinner at Dusty’s Cellar in East Lansing?
Answer: 2012! I ordered a beautifully prepared roasted turkey dish, while Dear Hubby went with his “Fancy Schmancy Event” signature dish: fillet mignon. Dusty, you outdid yourself.
4. Stayed the night at the Lexington Hotel?
GOTTCHA! It would be BOTH 2011 and 2012. We had such a wonderful time last year, we decided that staying another anniversary night at the Lexington Hotel would be a grand idea.
5. Ate an unsightly mammoth amount of dessert?
Trick question again: it would be BOTH!
2011: Dear Hubby and I made short work of our wedding cake.
2012: We thought that since we ate dinner at Dusty’s Cellar, we would have dessert at the hotel. The Lexington has one of the best restaurants in Lansing, Christie’s Bistro. This is what their room service dessert menu offers:
This is what we ordered:
I didn’t take any photos of the total annihilation that was our attack plan on the tray of desserts. It was far too embarrassing; not THAT embarrassing I suppose because literally 5 minutes after the carnage ended, we heard a knock on the door offering complimentary milk and cookies. Those were devoured as well.
6. Toasted to another wonderful year together using our wedding champagne flutes?
A lovely tradition that we could not pass up: both 2011 and 2012 were toasted with memorabilia from our wedding night.
7. Watched a movie about finding a friend for the end of the world?
It’s a gimmee: 2012. GREAT movie! 5/5 stars!
8. Watched a movie about a vampire-hunting U.S. president?
Ummm yea, this one wasn’t quite so great, but I’m glad to say that we actually watched it today, so it’s not really part of our anniversary. I will say this: I do think I’ll be reading the book eventually…sooner rather than later, I hope.
