Baby Hands

And it’s a Rest day for me because tomorrow is my Long Run day of 10 miles.  I haven’t run double digit milage in quite some time.  I’ve been downloading the first few episodes of the first season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta on iTunes, but because it takes almost an entire day with our slow internet connection, I’ve only got about two and a half done.  It’s probably all for the best – my mind has been smutted up too much lately and needs some more legitimate stimulation.

Since I finished reading the last installment in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy and started to reread it again, I started chipping away on the other books on my May Reading Challenge ListInsurgent by Veronica Roth.  Sadly, I was only a few clicks into the novel when I realized that I had no flippin’ clue as to what was going on.

This morning I dragged out my archaic, paper version of Divergent so that I could reread the last ten chapters or so.  Immediately I remembered why I enjoyed this novel and its characters in the first place.  But my joyful reunion was short-lived: Houston, we have a problem.

::singing “One of These Things is Not Like the Other”::

I have to say that I’ve become slightly pampered while using my Kindle over the last several months, and so technology has caused yet another body part to begin to slack off in response to convenience over physical exertion.

This is how I like to hold my books:

And this is how I typically hold the Kindle; notice how much less pressure is being applied to my “thumb muscle.”

I am not too proud to admit that this is a totally ridiculous issue to have; #FirstWorldProblems if there ever was one.  Thank goodness I can laugh at myself and hope to build up my palm endurance because I’d like to be able to switch back to real books once I’m home in Michigan.  I might have to sign up for a “Half War and Peace” to get myself motivated for training.

Question of the whenever I feel the hell like asking one Day:  Are there any gripes that you have that you are a embarrassed to admit to?
