Locked In and Shut Down

Happy Monday, Fancy Oatmeal Readers!  I am especially grateful for this particular Monday because it means that I made it through the over-night Lock-In on Friday.  So let’s start there for the weekend roundup.

The Lock-In

The idea originated as a Student Council project that sort of evolved into Dear Hubby and I hosting it ourselves.  There were certain grade criteria set to be eligible to attend, and honestly I was disappointed at the low number of students who qualified.  Out of the approximately 40 middle and high school students, we ended up with 10 at the Lock-In.  This was just the right number to be able to enjoy the evening, and make it worth their while.

We opened the doors at 8pm, and immediately the kids went to the gym and began playing all forms of basketball games: Around the World, HORSE, Bump, and Who Can Slam The Ball The Hardest To Make It Into The Hoop.

In another area of the school, Dear Hubby setup his XBOX and Wii.  A third game system was setup down the hall, and there was a constant rotation of students from one game platform to another.

When kids weren’t busy shooting hoops or Zombie Nazis, they were eating!  And I mean we brought out the big guns!

Around 11pm, we stopped activities to watch the new Muppets Movie staring Jason Segel (my television boyfriend) and Amy Adams. I absolutely LOVED this movie, and plan on purchasing a copy for our own DVD library.

If you can imagine, I started to get tuckered out around 1:30.  I did my best to stay awake all night with the help of one of my little friends.

After starting the movie, “Insidious” for the kids, I went and took a nap on the floor of my classroom.  It was a good thing I was so dang tired, otherwise I don’t think I would have been able to handle the sleeping accommodations.  I’m like the Princess and the Pea over here!

Fresh as a lamb, I woke up at 6am and joined the rest of the zombies kids, and played video games until it was time to kick them out at 8am.

When we got home, Dear Hubby made a meandering beeline to the bedroom and slept for a good 6 hours while I stayed awake like a G.  I ate a little oatmeal around 9am, and when I had finished my 3rd cup of coffee around 11, I laced up my running shoes and killed a 10k.

I know, right?  When you get the urge to merge, just go with it.

The rest of Saturday and Sunday is a blur with an occasional point of clarity that surrounded eating and shifting on the couch.  I did call home for Easter, and got caught up on all the family news: they miss me and love me.  Since Dear Hubby and I already got our Easter basket earlier in the week, we had all our necessities for celebrating the holiday.

When my alarm went off this morning at 4am, I was not nearly ready to get up.

How did you spend your Easter holiday?

When was the last time you stayed up all night long?

Technically I did not stay up all night, so I have to say that I have never done this.  And considering I’m 30, I doubt it will ever happy unless my unborn child pulls and all-nighter.
