Recipe of Love

Weekend Workout

Happy Monday, Fancy Oatmeal readers!  I hope that you are all rested up from the weekend!  I know that I definitely got my Zs this weekend because I found it to be incredibly difficult to fall asleep last night, so I decided since t was my rest day today, I would sleep in a whole hour – yup, I rises and shined at the brilliant hour of 5 am!  ZOWIE!

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, so I thought I would share with you the project that my students and I will be working on in the middle school grades: A Recipe of Love.  Awwwww.

Here is the sample that I will be showing to them:

Afterwards, they are going to be creating a Podcast using Garageband – they’ll be recording their voices and adding photos to add character and depth to their recipes.  It’s a great way to get students literally into their own writing without having to stand up in front of the class, embarrassed as all get out.

I am trying my darndest to get you guys a copy of my Podcast, so I’ll keep on trying.

Dear Hubby and I have decided that we aren’t going to do a big deal for Valentine’s Day.  We made a vow that we would start appreciating each other a little more on a daily basis instead of just making a hullabaloo in the middle of February.  Also, we have a hectic workweek; tonight is a School Board meeting, Tuesday is a Valentine’s Day carnival at school, Wednesday is our school’s Spelling Bee & Community meeting.  In addition to that, Friday is our Parent/Teacher Conferences, so we have a lot to focus on and I wouldn’t want to try and celebrate the love I have for my husband as an afterthought.

Question of the Day: What are your plans to celebrate Valentine’s Day?
