Last Week Recap

Happy Monday, Everyone!  It’s probably because I don’t have to work during the summer, but I love a Monday.  Give it another (literally) two weeks and I’ll be singing a different tune.  This time next week, I’ll be blogging to you from Anchorage, AK just before boarding a SAAB that will take Dear Hubby and I to St. Paul.  But, I plan on living up my last week in Michigan!

Last Week Recap

I was a little discouraged by my performance last week.  I felt slow, sluggish, and really tired through my runs.  What I planned and what happened was slightly different:

Monday – Bob Harper Strength DVD (60 minutes) – DID IT!

Tuesday – 3 miles @ 6.5 pace + Jillian Michaels’ strength DVD – CHECK YES!  3 Miles in 26:45

Wednesday –  Intervals (6 X 400s @ 7.5 and 4.5 paces) + Denise Austin’s Pilates DVD (upper and lower body, abs) – Totally turned a cold shoulder to this workout.  I was feeling tired and cranky.  Remember?  Instead I did 5 miles in 47:56.

Thursday – 3 miles @ 6.0 pace + Jackie Warner’s Circuit Training DVD – full body – Sorry, wrong again!  Instead I did another round with Bob Harper and his Strength DVD

Friday – 5k simulation – I’m starting to sense a pattern here.  I did a 30 minute tempo run, accomplishing 3.25 miles.

Saturday – Mint City 5k walk with Mom – YES!  We walked and this counted as my “Rest” day.  A lot of fun smiling and chatting.

Sunday – 6 mile long run.  – DID IT!  6 miles in 56:17.  It felt great!

What did I learn?  I learned that I was pushing myself a little bit too hard.  After getting some feedback from trusted fellow runners and @TheBoringRunner on twitter, I decided to slow things down this week.  I’m not worried about the distance, but I’m not actually doing any EZ runs…they’re all tempo paces, except the long run.

Not even smart enough to be called a Bird Brain.

This Week’s Plan:

Monday – Bob Harper Strength DVD – only once a week, no matter how much he tries to seduce me into a sweat-session.

Tuesday – 4 mile EZ run (@6.2 pace fuh realz) + Jillian Michaels’ Kettle Bell DVD

Wednesday – Tempo run @ (7.5 & 4.0 pace) X 5 + Full Body Circuit Training w/Jackie Warner

Thursday – 4 mile EZ run (@6.2 pace fuh realz) + Jillian Michaels’ Kettle Bell DVD

Friday – 30 minute tempo run

Saturday – Long Run (and moving day ::sigh::) 6 miles

Sunday – 3 miles EZ + weights (at a hotel, and not sure what this might actually be)

Sound good???
