Ele’s Race

Less than 24 hours from my last race and I’ve got my eyes set on the next one: The Boilermaker

I’m getting pretty psyched about this race; that run last night got my energy flowing. Ironically the extra burst I needed happened this morning while catching up on Property Ladder on HGTV. It sort of makes me feel like I’m part of something a little bit special. I mean, last night’s race was great and the times with the family will definitely be treasured for a long time. The fact that the Boilermaker is a pretty hype event, and I’m one of the people who will be participating, yea…that’s pretty cool.

And so is this:

I made it past the velvet rope.

And that’s not where this crazy train is stopping, oh no! While contemplating my running outfit for NY, I started thinking that there will be an awful lot of summer left before heading back to Alaska. So I started perusing the Playmakers website for another local race. And that’s when I found the Ele’s Race.

Ele’s Placeis “a healing center for grieving children, supporting families in the Lansing and Ann Arbor regions and beyond. Ongoing peer support group programs help hundreds of children and teens to cope with the death or life-threatening illness of a parent, sibling or other close family member or friend.” I couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s also the place where my cousins went after their mom, my cousin Shelly, passed from breast cancer. They’re good people and anything I can do to help support them, I’m there. And so will my cousin Rick, Shelly’s brother. We’re going to do our damnedest to get as many Wey family members out there to race/walk.
