Good Night/Rocky Morning – Part I

Greetings!
I have never gone from such a magnificent evening (around a 7 on the excitement scale) to such a low of disappointment as the sun rises the next morning. And it wasn’t just one event that brought my elation scale down; it was a series of events. But let’s start with the good.

I’m always on the search for the perfect balance between sweetness and low-calorie treat for after dinner. Tuesday night, I found another addition to my short list.

Introducing: Breyer’s Slow Churn Shakes

Behold!

Inside this magic cup are the dollops frozen strawberry (vanilla and chocolate are also available) goodness that are the foundation of this shake.

The directions call for adding 1/3 Cup of skim milk.

Once the milk has been added, stir, stir, stir.

Since I’m such a sucker for strawberries, I went ahead and added 6 of my own. The consistency was just perfect; not too thick or too soupy.

Including the skim milk, there were only 220 calories for the ENTIRE container.

Wednesday’s Start
I bounced out of bed, still high from the frosty delight of the evening before. My 5k plan called for a 40 minute tempo run. My long/easy runs typically are run at a 10:00 minute/mile. My tempo pace, for now, is 9:16. I’m more of a mile-marker kind of gal than a clock puncher, so I called it a “run” at 36:45 when I had traveled 4 miles on the treadmill. BOOO-YA!

But that’s where my day took an unfortunate turn.
