Three Things

Happy Wednesday, Wide World of Fancy Oatmeal Reading!

I hope that this hump day finds you healthy, wealthy, and wise.  It finds me Hushed, Rushed, and Crushed.

Hushed: I am far less vocal at night due to my evening runs and reading marathons.  I’ve finished two night runs this week, which has allowed me to finish Insurgent and begin The Fault in Our Stars.

I’ve only really read the first two chapters of John Green’s novel about a young girl who has terminal cancer, but I can tell you that I already am falling in love with the voice that he utilizes to tell this tale.  With the level of commitment that I’m already showing signs of in the first 38 pages, I anticipate that I’ll be ready to share a review with ya’ll this week.

Rushed: It’s sort of funny, that Einstein “Theory of Relativity” thing; you know when everything seems to be based on your own perception, and time can either seem to go into slow motion

or zip past you like the Roadrunner?

Yea, well I must have accidentally leaned against the lever to switch things over into Warp Speed because I felt like I was having a panic attack this morning, thinking about all of the “loose ends” that Dear Hubby and I still have to attend to before we leave the island.

For example:

  • Sell our car
  • Pack the remainder of our schtuff
  • Change our mailing address with the Post Office and other various junk mail-sending entities
  • Clean out our classrooms
  • Something important that I am totally forgetting

Crushed:  As in my morning run today.  It was the first time all week where I felt like I didn’t need to keep pushing myself in order to reach my mileage goal.  It could have been due to the fact that I was fully rested, properly fueled, and focused on the idea of maintaining an even pace.

Overall I’m feeling really good about my runs this month,

and my pacing has been improving.  So this allows me to be able to focus on the “Rushed” and “Hushed” parts of my life.

Weekend Wrap Up

Happy Monday, Fancy Oatmeal Spice

Does anyone really remember the Spice Girls?  I feel like they may have been made up in my mind after drinking way too many cans of Surge.

Anyways, I hope that you enjoyed your weekend.  Mine was filled with running, reading, and packing, so this should make for a quick post =)

Saturday, I woke up and decided to quit procrastinating and just get my 10 mile Long Run under way.

Great plan, not well executed.  Because I wasn’t thinking, I didn’t properly plan out my breakfast.  My weekday runs are at 5am, so I don’t eat before I get on the treadmill; most weekend runs start around 11am, which is enough time to digest my AM oatmeal.  Dunce that I am, I didn’t eat anything, figuring I would be ok.  Well I wasn’t.  I could feel my body running out of energy several times during my run.

You can see that my average pace was considerably slower than my 9 mile run, where I averaged a 7’45″ pace.

I should have stopped, postponed my long run for Sunday and chalk it up to stupidity.  This did not happen.  I figured it would be good for me to see what options I would have during a real run/race.  So I opened the bag of Gu Chomps I have at the ready on my treadmill’s dashboard.  I ate a chomp around miles 4, 7, and 9.   It was just enough fuel to get me to the finish line.

Pretty much the rest of Saturday was filled with either eating, reading, or a combination of both.

Saturday evening, Dear Hubby and I decided to splurge and ordered the Floyd Mayweather vs Miguel Cotto boxing PPV.  What a nice way to end my week-long affair with Fifty Shades of Grey.

I don’t usually keep up with this particular sport, but do enjoy watching a few rounds and learning about the backgrounds of the boxers.  For example, a 21 year old kid from Mexico named Saul Alvarez, AKA Canelo (Cinnamon) who has been a pro since the age of 15!

Long lost siblings???

Anyways, it was a good night.

Sunday left me with little else to do than getting in a nice four mile run and start in on Insurgent by Veronica Roth, the greatly anticipated sequel to Divergent.

I broke out my iPad and read a few more chapters as I did an easy four miles followed by the Whole Body 100 Rep Workout.

After my run this morning, I am about 80% through the book and you can expect a review by the middle of this week.

This morning I decided to hit up the treadmill and do a quick 4 miles and an upper body workout.

It’s a bit of a bitter-sweet Monday morning, knowing that this is the last traditional Monday in the classroom.  Next week is Pribilof Week, and it’s always a great way to end the school year.  Remember last year when we went Chuckii Hunting???  Yea, good times.  Anyways, we are down to about 12 days left on St. Paul Island and Dear Hubby and I are just taking in all the time that we have left before heading home to Michigan.

Hope you have a wonderful Monday!
