Five Things Friday

It’s Friday!  Bang the drums!

After a long, but productive week, I am ready to do a little R&R over the weekend!

Five Things Friday

1.  I’m reading and reading and reading away at Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell for my book club that meets next week on Tuesday, and I’m only on page 208 of 503!!!!  I’m really getting into it now; not John Green/dystopian/YA love drama “into it,” but considering that there were MANY times that I thought I was going to just completely skip the book and hope my book clubbers would be distracted by my wit and charm, not that bad!  I’m not sure how I’m going to proceed because I KNOW that I won’t be able to finish it before book club.

Let me know!

2.  We have a friend coming into town for the weekend.  He’s one of Dan’s friends from The Era That Shall Not Be Remembered – AKA before me met me.  Actually, Chris and Dan taught together at the school where Dan and I met 5 years ago.  Chris is a huge New York Jets fan and they’re playing against the Jaguars this Sunday, so what else would be a better excuse to come visit your Floridian friends?  I’m not necessarily a fan of either team, but let’s hope that we see some good football!

3.  I absolutely have been LOVING this season of American Horror Story!  Last year, I insisted that Dan and I only watch our DVR’d episodes when the sun was still up because otherwise I would become so stressed and creeped out that I couldn’t fall asleep.  This year, I’ve been ok up until this week’s episode.  The opening scenes featured a brutal shooting of a bell-ringing, red bucket wielding Santa Claus.  The absolute CREEPER of a man that shot the faux Santa then broke into a neighboring house PRETENDING TO BE SANTA! and had one of the most disturbing hostage scenes I’ve seen in quite some time.  I HAD to have Dan turn it off.  I just couldn’t sit in my living room that’s filled with holiday decorations, twinkle lights, and watch as a family be terrorized.  Hopefully the rest of the episode will not be like that, but I just couldn’t take it.  If you’re not a fan of the show, please don’t let my mini fit stop you from watching, but don’t take my word for it: 13 Reasons Why American Horror Story Doesn’t Suck This Season.

4.  Girls Night tonight!

5.  With all the stuff that I gotta do about #1-4, I don’t have time for a fifth thing!  Enjoy the weekend!

Five Things Fridays

So you know what that means!!!!!

1.  A student told me that I’m the best teacher ever!!!

Then he asked if he could have an A.

If there’s no chocolate or cash included, no dice.

2.  My workout was quick and dirty this morning.  A little of this:

followed by this:

It was a quick workout that really got my heart rate bumping because I did each exercise back-to-back, and did a one minute rest in between.

3. I received a bill in the mail yesterday, addressed to Amanda Ferrara.  It was a $800 bill from a neurologist in Anchorage, Alaska.

To the best of my knowledge, I’ve never had a checkup from the neck up even though I could probably benefit from one.  Upon further investigation, the bill was actually for the patient “Charles Ferrara.”   You can’t send out bills based on the majority of the letters of someone’s last name are the same.  Not good business practices; your bills won’t get paid that way.

4.  Dear Hubby and I have to drive by the Humane Society everyday on the way to and from work.  It is TOR-TURE!!!!  We know that it wouldn’t be a good idea to adopt a dog at this point because a.) we’re in an apartment and  b.) we’re moving SOON and that would only confuse the poor puppy.  But that doesn’t stop us from day dreaming =)

5.  We made it through the first week of school!!!!!  HERE’S TO THE FREAKIN’ WEEKEND!

Five Things Friday

Happy Friday all.  I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am, especially in the calf-al area, that it’s Friday!  We’ll get to why as we quickly swing into

1.  Yesterday afternoon was the open house for our school; a chance for teachers to meet with parents and students, introduce them to the new classroom locations, give supply and novel lists, a general run-down for the year, and just make that initial contact.  Can I just tell you first that it went SO well!  Even though I’ve been through six years of open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and other school events, I was still all

But once I got through the first one or two introductions and spiels, I was all

but it was more like

2.  Yesterday was the first day in over three years that I wore high heels for more than an hour.  Thankfully my feet forgave me because they’re covered in callouses from running, but my calves were all

We’ll have to see if those shoes make it back into rotation.  They’re too cute not too though.

3.  A Geometry theorem:  If both James Patterson and I have the same writing style, then I should be rolling in book advancement checks.

I stand by my point that math sucks.

Other great words of writing wisdom from the mouths of those who should know.

4.  I’m gonna be a mom!

NOT!  Calm down Mom and Mother-in-Law!  Of course I would announce to my entire family via blog post that I was pregnant, who doesn’t????  Two days ago I joined the website Savethewords.org, whose mission is to preserve the bountiful language that is English.  They posted a staggering statistic that 90% of our communication is through only 7,000 words.  Does that number seem low to you too??  Anyways, I have adopted three adorable words:

Boreism: (noun) the behavior of a boring person

I could tell that my date was only capable of boreism, so I hid in the bathroom for an hour.

Fopotee: (noun) a simple-minded person

Only a fopotee would purchase the new Paris Hilton album.

Prandicle: (noun) a small meal

The only way to enjoy a prandicle is if you know a buffet is waiting for you afterwards.

5.  Tomorrow marks the last weekend before school starts so you know what that means!
