And good morning to you as well!
There aren’t that many times in my life that I have felt the need to stop and throw a little self praise into the air for all to see. Well this is one of those times.
Pardon me while this pimp dusts her shoulder off
Breakin’ Records and Breakin’ Hearts
I’ve been utilizing a 5k training plan from the Run Coach Pro app from iTunes. Of course, we all know what happens to the best laid plans. However, in my case I ended up breaking my own personal records for distance, two days in a row.
Check it out:
I was really setting my goal for an endpoint rather than a mile-marker. The 5K that my cousins and I will be running later this month, Twilight 5k, has the most amazing route for beginning runners or first time racers. It’s a relatively flat trail that has a wide, paved pathway. It’s not intimidating at all.
I’ve been utilizing it for my own race track, same route each time so that I can keep up on my progress. My intention was to make it to a crossroad that intersects with the trail, about 2.25 miles from my starting point. Once I got there…I just had to keep on running.
It happened twice. I know that two long-days in a row might not be the best for my knee that I already ice after every run, but the heart wants what the heart wants.
What the heart got: 14.25 miles in two days (28.8 over the last week)
How I rewarded myself: Breakfast Bonanza
After my fruitful trip to Whole Foods, I’ve found it difficult to know where to start my meal planning. More options = more problems. 99 problems but a breakfast plan ain’t one. Ya dig?

Greek yogurt goodness! I’ve been kicking my breakfast game up a notch, adding chia seeds, Barney’s almond butter, and this new brand of Michigan-made granola.
“Excuse me, Breakfast Guru, but do you have anything in a side dish?”
“Let me see what I have in the back. You’re a strawberry and nut-butter woman, aren’t you?”
“Why yes! Yes I am! How did you know?”
“It’s my job ma’am.”
Bon Apetit!

Sliced strawberries and MORE Barney’s almond butter atop a whole wheat thin sandwich.
Wait.
Ummm….did you just put your breakfast on the window sill so you could take a fancier photo?
